Shannon Winzer, coach of Canada: “It is the first time we play together. I think both Puerto Rico and us have very young teams. Being the first match, we did a good job.”

Carlos Rodriguez, coach of Puerto Rico: “I am not happy but not worried either because these girls are just breaking ground internationally. I think they did pretty well considering we only had three weeks of preparation. The tournament is just beginning and Puerto Rico obviously will have better outings.

Brie King, captain of Canada: “It was a good game for us. Some of our players are experiencing their first international competition. We gave them the confidence and they followed the instructions to win the match.”

Paola Rojas, captain of Puerto Rico: “It was a very tough match. Many of the girls are new to the international. We need to improve the serves and the receptions.”
