During the morning hours of this Friday, the 6 delegations of Group A complied with the preliminary interviews conducted by the Control Committee of the event chaired by the president, Cristóbal Marte; the president of the subcommittee on appeals, Judith Rodríguez; the administrative director, Arateide Cáceres and the president of the Peruvian Volleyball Federation, Pilar Gonzáles.

"In this competition we will implement the new libero rule dictated by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), in which one hour before each match the teams must announce before the Control Committee, which of their 14 registered athletes will be the 2 liberos , which gives the coaches freedom to rotate the player who will be in this defensive position,"explained the Norceca's top representative.

Similarly, during the preliminary event, each of the coaches shared about the projections drawn within their respective work plans in the eighteenth edition that is key in the classification for the Pan-American Games of Santiago 2023.

Argentina, Hernán Ferraro: Our participation in the Challenger was unforeseen, but we have tried to come with the best team for this Pan American Cup that serves us for the Pan American Games in Lima 2019. This competition we take as a preparation, but also as a tournament very important, in which we aspire to reach the highest possible; there are teams that are playing very well, it will undoubtedly be a beautiful tournament.

Canada, Thomas Black: We hope to play very strong matches because we have very powerful teams in our group. Each opponent will serve us to do our best game and see what things we have to improve thinking about our preparation for the Intercontinental Olympic Qualification that we will play in Russia next month.

Cuba, Leivis García: We have come with a very young team, but with many wishes to play good volleyball. They are aware of what they should do and how to achieve it. We have inherited the success in the U20 Cup, the word Cuba means a high volleyball and we are in that condition and the possibility of fighting it.

Guatemala, David Aldana: The team has been working together for two months, except for two incumbents who could not come for work reasons, but we bring a good team; four majors, girls of the U23 and of the minor categories that have the challenge of taking advantage of each match to improve individually and in groups, thinking about accumulating the points that this tournament will give us for the Central American and Caribbean Games.

Peru, Francisco Hervás: This championship is important because it is within a preparation path that we want to have its climax with the Tokyo 2020 qualifier. This event will help us a lot to grow as a team, we have a hard group, but we are happy because the only way to grow is by playing against good teams. We will face each of the matches with the maximum strength.

Dominican Republic, Marcos Kwiek: Half of our team comes from competing in the League of Nations, and we arrived at the Pan American Cup thinking about our short-term commitments such as the Olympic Qualification and the Pan American Games in Lima 2019. We are in a very strong series which is good for us because it gives us the possibility to face new challenges, which put us in trouble to see what we are failing and solve them for the challenges that lies ahead for us.
