Dominican Republic’s U23 begins training camp in Japan

TOKYO, Japan, August 29, 2016 – The Dominican Republic’s U23 Women Volleyball National Team has begun its preparation for the Pan American Cup with a training base in Japan together with their similar from the Asian country.

The Dominican team is complying with an official invitation from the government of Japan processed through the Embassy of Japan in the Dominican Republic.


In the first match of a friendly series, Japan defeated the Dominican Republic 3-1 (25-14, 25-18, 23-25, 27-25).


Jineiry Martinez and Gaila Gonzalez were the top scorers for the Dominican side with 25 and 16 points, respectively. Larysmer Martinez added 9 points in the loss.


Dominican super star Brayelin Martinez will join the team starting on Tuesday, it was reported.


The U23 Pan American Cup will take place in the cities of Ica and Lima, Peru from August 17 to 26.
