Guatemala announces intention to host 2015 FIVB Girls’ U-18 WCH

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, July 8, 2014. - During the opening ceremony of the Women’s U-20 Continental Championship, Guatemala announced their intention to host the 2015 FIVB Girls’ U-18 World Championship.

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, July 8, 2014. - During the opening ceremony of the Women's U-20 Continental Championship, Guatemala announced their intention to host the 2015 FIVB Girls' U-18 World Championship.

The opening ceremony at Teodoro Palacio Flores Gymnasium had the attendance of President of NORCECA Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, as special guest; Marta Centeno de Sajché, President of AFECAVOL and the Control Committee; President of the Guatemalan Volleyball Federation Enrique Santis Berrios, Vice President of the Guatemalan Sports Confederation Zuly Saravia and members of the Control Committee.

"Guatemala has the privilege to host a Continental Championship with the support not only of the NORCECA Confederation but of our sports authorities. We are pleased to have such talented players here, they are the reason of all our efforts" said Centeno de Sajche.

"It is the ideal occasion to announce that Guatemala is studying the possibility to host next year's Girls' U-18 FIVB World Championship" said Cristobal Marte after praising Guatemala's organizing abilities. "The National Volleyball Federation of Guatemala has united efforts with NORCECA, to make our  Confederation more competitive worldwide, I recognize their hard work and I am thrilled of their intentions to bring to this hospitable country a FIVB World Championship".

The nine participating teams enjoyed the notes of the marimba during the parade and applauded the championship's official inauguration.
