Canadian national women’s volleyball team launches 18-day South - Central American tour with victory

PUAN, Argentina- Canada’s national women’s volleyball team launched its 18-day South- Central American tour with a 16-25, 26-24, 25-23, 16-25, 15-8 victory overArgentina on Monday night.It’s the first in a five-match series this week between the two countries. The Canadians are currently tuning up for the FIVB Women’s World volleyball championships October 29 to November 14 inJapan. "Our goals for this tour are to focus on us and on our game without being focused too much on the result," saidCanada’s head coach Arnd Ludwig. "We have worked a lot on our attack using the block. We also worked a lot in minimizing our errors on the court and I hope we can transfer the good practices on the court for these matches." Canadais fielding a 14-member team for the tour lead by team captain Tammy Mahon, Sarah Pavan and Tiffany Dodds. After Argentina, the Canadians also head to Peru and Costa Rica formore matches. The other members of the team are: Tonya Mokelki, Kyla Richey, Jennifer Hinze, Tasha Holness, Carla Bradstock, Janie Guimond, Julie Young, Lauren O'Reilly, Nadine Alphonse, Tricia Mayba, (Argentina segment) andMarisa Field, (Peru/Costa Rica segment).
