Six unbeaten men’s duos in Varadero

Sergio González-Luis Reyes (CUB-1) and Rubén Mora-Denis López (NIC) of group A; Eric Zaun-Ian Satterfield (USA-1) in B; Josué Rivera-Kevin López (PUR) in C, and Troy Field-Ty Loomis (USA-2) and Yosvany Carrasco-Karell Piña (CUB-2) were the best performers and favorites to secure a spot in the semifinals on Sunday, when the dispute for the highest of the podium also takes place.

The host leaders and medalists of three colors in the previous phases Gonzalez and Reyes easily dominated Miguel Lopez Junior-Jordan Lake (Virgin Islands) 2-0 (21-4, 21-2) and José Miguel González-Jason Quintero (Panama) 2-0 (21-8, 21-15).

The same Mora and Denis Lopez beat the Panamanians 2-0 (21-12, 21-11) and Jon Isaacs and Kyle Wilson, of the Bahamas, 2-0 (21-10, 21-11).

In Pool B Eric Zaun-Ian Satterfield (USA-1) beat Richard Smith and Sebastián Valenciano (Costa Rica) 2-1 (21-14, 21-23, 15-7) and Bryton Codd-Gabriel Núnez, of Belize, 2-0 (21-12, 21-10).

The silver medalists in the previous manga, Andy Leonardo-Luis Garcia (Guatemala) defeated Bryton Codd-Gabriel Núñez (Belize) 2-0 (21-18, 21-15), but fell to Smith and Valenciano 2-1 (8-21, 21-12, 15-12).

In Pool C, Puerto Ricans Josué Rivera-Kevin López scored success against Salvadorans Carlos "Tato" Escobar-David Vargas 2-0 (21-16, 21-15) and Gabriel Burlacu-Liam Kopp (CAN-2) also in straight sets (22-20, 21-13).

Burlacu and Kopp defeated Dominicans Víctor Castillo-Alex Medina 2-0 (32-30, 21-16) with a first set of fright at midday when the sun was at its best, but precisely trying to protect the players, among other aspects, in Varadero for the first time some games were played at night.

The Salvadorans Tato Escobar and Pepe Vargas defeated the Dominicans 2-0 (21-18, 21-17).

In Pool D, Troy Field-Ty Loomis (USA-2) beat the Trinidadians Marlon Phillip-Daynte Stewart 2-0 (21-11, 21-19) and Ivan Reka-Simón Fecteau (CAN-1) by 2 -0 (21-14, 21-17).

Also Yosvany Carrasco and the experienced Karell Piña (CUB-2) beat the Canadian main team 2-1 (19-21, 21-19, 15-6), as well as Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 (21-19, 21 -17), a team able to present more resistance taking advantage of the evident but dangerous confidence of the locals.
