Republic started a Seminar for Physical Education Teachers.
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, May 3, 2016 - The
NORCECA/FIVB Regional Volleyball Development Center in Dominican
Republic started a Seminar for Physical Education Teachers.
Sixty participants, including teachers and students of physical
education from all over the Dominica Republic attended the opening
ceremony of the course that offers updated volleyball techniques
and teaching methods in basics areas as serve, attack and blocking,
as well as guidelines for scouting volleyball talents.
The director of the seminar is Francisco Hervas Tirado of Spain,
an FIVB Instructor who is currently coaching Club Regatas Lima in
Peru and also served as coach of the Spain women's national team in
2013. As a player, Hervas captained the Spain men's national team
at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and represented his country
in 312 international matches.
Hervas will be assisted by Dominican Eduardo Jonás Tayson, a
Level III International Coach who is currently physical education
teacher at Calasanz School and Naco Club. Tayson is also member of
the staff of the ministry of sports.
The opening ceremony was attended by Angel Rivas, technical vice
president of the Dominican Volleyball National Federation and
Nelson Acevedo, director of the National Physical Education
Institute.
