Tijuana and Mexicali, Mexico, September 9, 2015 - A Volleyball Information System workshop have taken place in both cities as the FIVB Men's U21 World Championship nears in the Baja California region.

Members of the North, Central American and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (Norceca) have coordinated the theoretical and practical sessions at the FIVB Regional Development Centre in Tijuana as well as at the Ciudad Deportiva (Sports City) in Mexicali.

Many of the volunteers who have attended to these workshops are local high school students as well as athletes who compete as part of the State Sponsored Sports Talent Program.

Volleyball and even other sports prospects have shown interest in the art of describing  and computing every play during a match. The volunteers take part with the use of the FIVB official software tools and also learn how to fill out the data manually.

Some of the volleyball players who are for now part of the VIS team have played at Age Group Pan American Cups as well as Age Group World Championships like  Marla Renee Arreola, who is the Libero of the National Mexican U18 squad.

Some other players like Daniela de la Torre, Natalia Escoto and Veronica Gomez, who have also been called up for National Age Group Team concentrations live this experience as the Men's U21 championship nears.

The sessions in have been directed by Lorenzo Martinez, in Tijuana, while in Mexicali Esteban Hernández and Julissa Chavez are in charge of preparing the groups just before the official practical clinics that are scheduled the day before the beginning of the tournament.

Martinez and Hernandez have served for the Norceca Confederation VIS Commission while Chavez who began as a VIS Volunteer almost seven years ago, has also contributed as a trainer for international events, such as the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico, in 2014.
