TIJUANA, Mexico, March 14, 2014 - Swedish Volleyball coach and instructor Tony Westman arrived in Mexico to direct an International Seminar for Physical Education Teachers.

The seminar is promoted by the FIVB in cooperation with NORCECA Confederation and the Development Centers of Santo Domingo and Tijuana.

Some 26 physical education school teachers are expected to participate in the four-day event.

The working sessions include theoretical and practical phases at the brand new facilities of The Baja California High Performance Center inaugurated by FIVB President Ary Graça and NORCECA President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz last November.

The course is scheduled from March 15 to March 18 and its main goal is the promotion of physical culture and volleyball as vehicles for development and activation.

The experience of a qualified instructor as Westman will be very important for the success of the course and for the benefit of the participants.

"I have worked with national teams in my country as well as in Denmark, and have the chance to direct many courses around the world, we expect to have a great experience," said Westman, who is based in the United Kingdom.

"I was here before, two years ago for an International Technical Seminars focused on Setters," added Westman, who has a 15-year experience working with men's and women's teams.

He has coached in the European Leagues with clubs like Kanti Schaffhausen, Innsbruck Volley in Austria and Örebro Volley in Sweden and is also a FIVB Level II Instructor who has worked with some universities in Great Britain like Liverpool's.

For the past seven years he has also worked with national teams, winning the Nordic Championship a couple of times and also reached the quarterfinals at the European Cup in 2001.

The course is focused on working with kids and youngsters who have been called to participate in a clinics organized at the multi-purpose gym located at the Baja California High Performance Center in Tijuana, the site of several volleyball age-group championships.
