CASTRIES, Saint Lucia, August 2, 2013 - The Level 1
International Coaches Course in Saint Lucia concluded successfully
on Thursday, with 23 participants receiving their
certificates.
FIVB Instructor Dan Girleanu, who
was in charge of the course, presented the certificates accompanied
by Yohana Mota Moreno, vice director of the Regional Development
Center in Dominican Republic, and Brian Louisy, President of St
Lucia Volleyball Association.
The course was offered through the
FIVB's Volleyball Cooperation Programme (VCP) and is aimed at
improving coaching skills and participants' knowledge of the
game.
Girleanu pronounced a few words
during the closing ceremony to praise de qualities of the
participants and their willingness to learn the basic fundaments of
the sport.
He also commented on the great
cooperation he received from the local authorities of Saint Lucia
and from the Regional Development Center.
Of the 23 participants, seven
candidates had the opportunity to participate with the support of a
scholarship from the NORCECA Development Programme.
In addition to the national
participants, the coaches also came from Trinidad & Tobago,
Saint Maarten, Montserrat, Jamaica, Belize, USA Virgin Island,
St. Eustatius, and the other part of the candidate are
national participants from Saint Lucia National Federation.
