PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, May 29,
2013 - An International Course of Data Volley & Data Video was
held in Trinidad under the supervision of James Wilroy, the
responsible for the department of education of Data Volley
Company.
The participants will have the
opportunity to develop the practical part of the course during the
Volleyball Caribbean League, where 31 foreign players are joining
the local talent for the second edition of the competition.
The opening ceremony of the course,
organized in coordination with the FIVB/NORCECA Regional
Development Centre in Dominican Republic, was attended by Mushtaque
Mohammed, president of the Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association
(CAZOVA), Daymian Steward, president of the T&T Volleyball
Federation, Judith Sandino, president of the NORCECA VIS Commission
and Yohana Mota, vice director of the Development Centre.
"NORCECA development commission
expects that the participants in these programs will transfer their
knowledge gained in these courses and seminars, in their respective
countries so the information will continue to grow," Mohammed,
president of NORCECA Development Commission stated as he addressed
the participants.
"We do not want to have people
collecting certificates to add to their Curriculum but to spread
the knowledge gained. This will have a multiplying effect and
will create long term learning," Mohammed added.
He also highlighted the fact that
last year NORCECA through the development program awarded 112
scholarships in different courses held through the development
centre.
This investment is providing
dividend as we are seeing much growth in the national federations'
technical capacity in the World Championships Qualification
tournaments held in NORCECA.
The 22 participants in the course
are from Trinidad & Tobago (14), Bahamas, Belize, Grenada,
Montserrat, Peru, St Eustatius, Suriname and Tortola.
