Trinidad & Tobago host successful setter seminar

Port of Spain, Trinidad, November 23, 2013 - The FIVB, International Setter Seminar, in Trinidad & Tobago ended successfully on Saturday at the VIP Room of the Hasley Crawford National Stadium.

In the closing ceremony, Mushtaque Mohamed, President of NORCECA Development Commission, admonished the participants to ensure that the investment made by FIVB and NORCECA assist in the development of the sport in their respective countries.

"Over the last three years NORCECA has invested over 3 million dollars in development projects which includes courses and seminars and it is time that we start seeing returns for this investment" Mohammed, who is also the Secretary of the FIVB Development Commission, said.

The FIVB course conductor, Tony Westman was very thankful for the opportunity to assist NORCECA with its development projects and recognized the support received from the president of the Trinidad and Tobago Volleyball Federation, Daymian Stewart and the entire organizing committee members who ensure all the technical requirements were up to the FIVB standards.

"The facilities provided were of a high level and the course participants were committed to learning and absorbing the knowledge imparted," Westman said.

Positive comments were received from the participants on the structure of the course program, the delivery of the content by the FIVB instructors and knowledge shared among the participants from the various countries.  Coach John Van de Lee from Aruba (the most senior coach in the course) thought it was the best course he ever attended and will encourage his national federation to host programs like these in the future where more local participants of his country can benefit from the information in these these of courses.

FIVB Certificates of participation together with Certificates from the NORCECA Development Centre were presented by Mohammed, CAZOVA President, Steward, Kervin Jean, Chief Operating Officer of T & T National Federation, Westman and Yohanna Mota Moreno, Development Center Vice-Director.

Twenty-nine participants were certificates -13 participants from Martinique, Bahamas, Jamaica, Haiti, Monserrat, St. Vincent, Belize, Aruba, Dominica, Grenada, French St. Martin, and 16 local participants

This course is the 11th celebrated this year by the Development Center in Dominican Republic, with all the support of NORCECA Confederation, and The FIVB, giving more opportunities to the category I and II National Federations and regional members affiliated to NORCECA Confederation form its different zones.

Continuing with the development of these activities the Trinidad & Tobago Federation will host the VIS Course from Monday 25, 2013.
