TIJUANA, México, October 1 2013.- The NORCECA development model
has become an important reference for other volleyball continental
confederations, stated Cristobal Marte Hoffiz.
The North, Central American and Caribbean Confederation
President and FIVB First Executive Vicepresident remarked the
example shown by the continental governing body during the Opening
Ceremony of the International Defense and Reception course that
takes place at the Baja California High Performance Center.
"The Asian Confederation has shown a special interest in how We
work here in Norceca, and their top officers are expected to visit
our headquarters in Santo Domingo in a few days," said Marte Hoffiz
before declaring the seminar formally inaugurated.
"Actually We have a lot of our countries in development in the
Caribbean area", He said. "They do a great sacrifice to come here
and prepare, but there are already good examples of their
achievements by getting good continental ranking positions, like We
could see it at the last Continental Championships in Omaha and
Canada."
That is why international seminars are so important for the
confederation members. At the opening ceremony, Baja California
Sports Institute Director, Saul Castro Verdugo was present as well
as the President of the Baja California Volleyball Association and
also FIVB and Norceca member, Alberto Arreola and the President of
the Norceca VIS Commission, Judith Sandino.
The Baja California Sports Director welcomed the attendants from
Belice, Dominica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Saint Kitts and
Nevis as well as Saint Vincent and Granadines.
This course is given by FIVB instructor, Juan Cartagena, from
Puerto Rico, who was also at the Opening Ceremony along with FIVB
Development Center in Santo Domingo, Lisandra Ramírez.
The seminar is composed of theoretical and practical sessions.
Attendants count on with all the material available for their
training and classes and activities conclude on Friday October 4th,
beforte the beginning of FIVB Women's U23 World Championship
Open.
